Illusions book review

After devouring and enjoying wings and spells, there would be no way for me to skip out on Illusions. As soon as I got a copy of Illusions, I immediately indulged myself in Laurel’s faerie world, and I’ve got to say, the book just kept on getting better and better. Illusions definitely showed me the whole reason why I loved the series.

Many people complain about the book’s pacing, they think it’s slow, and if you asked me I would say, it’s true, but somehow I didn’t feel like it was a drag and I didn’t feel bored with it. It was perfect for me actually. I loved the twists and turn that Apprilynne Pike put throughout the book. It kept me wanting to read more and more until I was done with the whole series.

Laurel, I liked her despite the fact that she can’t sort out her feelings and can be a pain sometimes. There is just something that I find charming about her. One advice for Laurel Though, TAMANI!!! TAMANI!!! TAMANI!!! Tamani all the way! If you don’t want him give him to me :P (hahah)

Illusions left me crazy and hungry for more. (Dang cliffhangers !@$#$@$@#)
I can’t wait to find out what the missing puzzle piece that the book left me hanging to for the next book and yes, I do recommend the series to you especially if your looking for a soothing and cute paranormal book.

Summers crossing (Iron fey 3.5) Puck's story book review

Summary:

Midsummer's Nightmare? Robin Goodfellow. Puck. Summer Court prankster, King Oberon's right hand, bane of many a faery queen's existence—and secret friend to Prince Ash of the Winter Court. Until one girl's death came between them, and another girl stole both their hearts.

Now Ash has granted one favor too many and someone's come to collect, forcing the prince to a place he cannot go without Puck's help—into the heart of the Summer Court. And Puck faces the ultimate choice—betray Ash and possibly win the girl they both love, or help his former friend turned bitter enemy pull off a deception that no true faery prankster could possibly resist.

An ebook exclusive novella from Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series.

Review:
I was basically jumping up and down with joy when I found out that Julie Kagawa released an e-book novella Summer’s crossing which is probably not much of a surprise since most of the people who reads my reviews probably knows that I am a puck fan girl.
As usual, Julie Kagawa didn’t disappoint and she met my high expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every page of Summer’s crossing, I just wished there were more pages. It was just really entertaining.

Puck and Ash’s friendship was explored more during the Summer’s crossing, and I’ve got to say they make an interesting and hilarious comedy pair. Puck definitely revealed more depth to his character and I can’t help but falling all over for our mischievous little friend. Ash’s character wasn’t really explored much in this book, but he certainly made me laugh out loud.

Julie Kagawa definitely delivered a book that hooks you from the beginning. (which is not much of a surprise, just take a look at her other books!!!) The way she wrote in Puck’s point of view was clearly riveting and I would definitely recommend this book and the Iron King series to everyone. I’m pretty sure that Julie Kagawa’s book will mesmerize you the same way it did to me.

Unearthly book review

Summary:
In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

Review

I saw Unearthly a couple of times advertised in blogs, goodreads, etc. but I never really paid much attention to it. I really don’t know why, I mean it had such an astounding book cover and then, I was on my weekly book-buying session and I came across Unearthly again. I decided to read the summary of the book and I was entranced by it. I don’t know why, it just My expectations of this book was pretty high and I would say some aspects of it did meet my expectations and some took me by surprise.

I really don’t know what I was expecting from Unearthly, but I was looking forward for awesomeness, and I would say its pretty average in my taste. It wasn’t necessarily bad that I wanted to roll over and die after reading the book; it was just like any other average good angel books that I read. Some things that took me by surprise is the romance factor I mean sure there were hints that Tucker would be Clara’s love interest but, I never would have expected how it ended with him, I was thinking it would be more of Christian. Another thing that made me go, “whoa wasn’t expecting that” was the ending. It was just so different from what I predicted, which I guess is a good thing because you wouldn’t want a predictable book right? I surely wouldn’t. There were definitely great things in the book that I saw like the pacing. There was never a time where it was too slow or too fast, the writing was no doubt strong and the story flowed well, I just wished the ending didn’t end in such a cliff-hanger that I’m now desperate to see the next book.

Unearthly definitely showed its worth and after reading the book, I got to be a fan of Cynthia Hand. I saw the hard effort she put in research and making this book a great debut and the talent she has for writing. I am definitely looking forward for more of her works and I recommend it to all Ya paranormal fans out there, I am pretty sure you’ll get to love the angel world Cynthia made.

paranormalcy book review

summary:
Evie’s always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours.

But Evie’s about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

So much for normal.

REVIEW:

Everyone around me just kept on saying READ PARANORMALCY! READ IT! (Umm yeah) So guess what I did? I ignored them haha. I’m the type of person not to fall into peer pressure, then I saw it in barnes and noble while looking for books and it had a pretty book cover, I was pretty sure my eyes were sparkling when I saw it, but then this person came up to me and talked about how amazing it is and how I should read it (not kidding!) so of course, being the person who doesn’t like when people force me to do something I ignored that person and walked away. Then, I went to goodreads and guess what? I saw it again…I mean I love paranormal stuff I mean just take a look at my blog! But I just kept seeing it everywhere, it was like Hannah Montana or Justin bieber in book form and I didn’t want paranormalcy to become another twilight experience (if you know what I mean) so I ignored it, but I guess I ended up giving in I mean, I’m writing this review after all. Part of the reason why is for my blog , but most of the reason is because of its appealing summary and the wonderful cover. After reading the book, I’m glad I ended up giving in to peer preassure. Paranormalcy was definitely worth my time and deserved all it’s hype.

The characters were amazing. I don’t recall any character that I thought was stereotypical, from the main characters to the other supporting ones. The main character Evie, is so cute and spunky. (Which I LOVE!!!) She’s definitely not the bella type. She can definitely kick-ass, which is awesome! Lend, I liked him, but not much of a fan. I think that Kiersten White could’ve made him stronger like physically because I felt like he was a damsel in distress in some parts. (Sorry lend fans, just stating my opinion please do not chase me with a chainsaw XP, I love my life, don’t want to die yet) Reth, I feel is really creepy like I don’t even know, I just felt like I’m going to wake up and see him beside me and say “Hi, my love” I don’t even know, he scares the crap out of me. but at least he wasn’t the stereotypical I saw you for the first time ,fell in love, and now I’m going to die for you type, which makes me appreciate him a little more.

Kiersten White definitely showed me her sense of humor throughout the book. I couldn’t help but turn the page like some crazy maniac just to find out what she has in store for me. I was so engaged through out the book but then, I felt like towards the middle, I felt like it lost something or maybe, that’s not even it, I felt like it was missing some sort of element to it, the certain element that can make it even more breath-taking than it is, maybe it was the action or me adjusting to it’s uniqueness. I’m not really sure, but nonetheless, despite me feeling that it lacked something, I still loved the book. I’m not kidding, I do, and I’m looking forward for what Supernaturally has in store for me. I highly recommend this book to you, and I’m pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.

Iron Queen

Summary:
My name is Meghan Chase.

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.

Review:
The Iron King series surely had come a long way. I remember the first time I picked up the first Iron King book. I was entranced by the cover and the story; it immediately captivated me from the first page. I never ever thought that there would be a better book than the first one and then came Iron daughter. I was nervous because there’s this epidemic going around with books. Don’t you just hate when books goes from good to a complete mess? Yeah that’s basically what the epidemic is. I am happy to say that the second book didn’t made me want to vomit, in fact it was much better than the first book, so that lead me to the third. I had really high expectations for this one and it met all my expectations and I’m pleased to say it left me breathless and wanting for more.

I loved how Julie Kagawa developed her characters. Starting off with Meghan, she definitely became more independent and strong as a person and I loved that. Puck, I love Puck. I am slightly disappointed she didn’t end up with him because well, he’s always been there for her, and really guys? Who doesn’t love a fun, mischievous, loyal guy who would give up everything for the girl he loves to be happy? If you do, there is seriously something wrong with you. Ash, I have to admit I was slightly piss off with ash in Iron daughter but he definitely stepped up his game and sorry puck but I think Ash is better off with Megan.(yes! I said it, sorry team puck fans I’m a traitor) you could see their passion for each other as chapters pass. Anyways, let’s move on to my most favored character in the book, Grim. I just love him, His intelligence and the sarcastic tone he has is quite adorable and it captures my heart. I love how he acts like he doesn’t care about anything, when in reality he does. He’s been in every adventure Meghan has been. The new characters had interesting personalities too and I’m excited to learn more about them in Ash’s story the Iron Prince.

Iron Queen was never boring and it flowed really well. Everything was just well organized and put together from the first two books. I could tell that Julie Kagawa worked really hard to make this happen. I am so glad to be able to be one of her readers/fan. She has become one of my favorite authors ever and I am definitely looking forward for her future works especially the Iron Knight, Ash’s story. <3 I recommend her series to you, because I’m quite sure that you won’t be disappointed.

Overall rating: 5/5 of course :D

Born at midnight review

Summarry : One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

Review: The first time I laid my eyes on Born at midnight, the stunning cover entranced me. Once I found out it was a book about different kinds of supernatural and a love triangle to spice it all up. I became really excited and I ended up buying it, despite the fact that I was broke with all the other books I bought and although it might have been not the best idea, I was glad this title was added to my collections of books.
After I got this book, I immediately delved inside and found it quite interesting from page one. I loved how there was humor spread throughout the book and it wasn’t just all serious and dramatic, but despite my appreciation of it’s humor, it’s not what I loved most about the book, it’s the mystery that I adored and what actually kept me going. I just wanted answers and as I get more answers, there are more questions that follow. It kept me questioning until the end and unfortunately, left me on a cliffhanger, which isn’t necessarily terrible, but I was looking forward for closure! T.T
Kylie’s character really annoyed me at times in the book. Although there are times I pitied her and wanted to give her a hug just to make her feel better, the times where I wanted to strangle her to death just to shut her complaining mouth was more dominant. I swear every chapter I read until the very end, she was complaining about how her life sucks. Take one advice from me; stop looking at the darker side of things and start looking on the bright side of things or someone might really just punch you in the face with all your complaining. I mean she had two guys wanting her attention and friends that are there to support her and she still whined. It got a little better towards the end, but the complaining was still there. Also, I hated the fact that he moved on to another guy as soon as she got the chance. It bothered me, it felt unfair and I hated it, but that doesn’t change my love for love triangles, I am in love with love triangles it’s just that in this book it felt as if the romance was too fast-paced between her and the other guys and for a character who doesn’t know how to flirt, she moves on pretty fast.
I don’t really know who I want to pick for Kylie, whether Derek or Lucas, they both seem like they would be a good boyfriend to her, but my question is whether Kylie would be good enough for them, she just have plenty of emotional baggage. I hope she becomes even more stronger in the next upcoming books which I’m looking forward to, because despite my atrocious rants about Kylie, I really did enjoy it, and I thought It was actually a pretty good read. C.C Hunter definitely created a book filled with unpredictable twists and turns, and I do recommend you to give it a chance because I’m pretty sure It would leave you wanting for more.
